Parent Permission Letter for Voice Thread

June 18, 2009

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Virginia White and I am working with your ELL student to develop his/her Listening, Speaking, and Writing skills. One way that I would like to do this is to utilize as much technology in my room as possible. I would like to use a voice thread to help develop your child’s skills in all three areas while enabling your student to contribute to our school community. We will be developing a Welcome voice thread for all new students. To become familiar with what your child will be doing, I invite you to visit this website: http://voicethread.com/#home
Because this project will be available on the World Wide Web, I need your permission for your child to participate. At no time will your student be allowed to post his/her first and last name. Nor will he/she be allowed to post a picture of his/herself. Your student will choose a piece of clipart or landscape that he/she feels represents his/herself. That will become the visible icon on the voice thread. All comments to the voice thread will be monitored by me so that your student will not be exposed to anything inappropriate.
The classroom goal of this voice thread is for your child to create a useable document that will be made available to all incoming new students to Holbrook Junior High. The intent of this assignment is to help new students feel more welcome and become familiar with their new school. Your student will be helping in this endeavor. Please sign below if you are willing to let your student participate in this activity.
Thank you,

Virginia White
